July 30, 2009 New poll: Stop spending our money and cut the deficit

Dalia Sussman writing in the Times' Caucus Blog: Most Americans continue to want the federal government to focus on reducing the budget deficit rather than spending money to stimulate the national economy, a new New York Times/CBS News poll finds. Yet at the same time, most oppose some proposed solution for decreasing it. The message is clear; get serious about reducing the frightening deficits we are facing and do it by cutting, not increasing spending. The Democrats will not heed this message. Whether the GOP will be able to take advantage of it is another question. |
