A racist headline?

After Illinois Representative Jan Schakowsky (D) announced she will not  run for the senate seat currently held by President Barack Obama's (D) replacement Senator Roland Burris (D), Steve Rhodes of NBC Chicago (or some headline writer) proclaimed

No Senator Schakowsky
Leaves field to rich white boys.

Those "rich white boys" are Chris Kennedy (yes, that family) and Alexi Giannoulias, currently Illinois state treasurer and member of a  wealthy local banking family with ties to the local Italian American Benevolent Association - or Mafia, whichever you prefer.

So, is NBC inferring that the diverse Democratic party is throwing the only black member of the Senate under the bus as a "poor black boy"?

All of this sure sounds racist to me.
