Save the whales trapped in Arctic ice

Global warming alarmists love to maintain that the Arctic ice pack is melting. Tell it the whales trapped in Arctic ice! AFP reports:

At least 200 narwhal whales in Canada's Arctic, trapped by winter ice and facing starvation or suffocation, must be culled, officials say.

Hunters from the village of Pond Inlet on Baffin Island discovered the animals trapped near Bylot Island, about 17 kilometres from Pond Inlet, on November 15.

The local hunters are allowed to harvest only 130 whales each year for food, according to standards set by the federal department of Fisheries and Oceans.

But department spokesman Keith Pelley said: "It's unlikely the animals are going to survive the winter, so the hunters have been given authorisation to cull them."

Of course, when discussing global climate, it is silly to focus on ice conditions in one spot or another. Ice packs can melt in some areas while increasing elsewhere. But the emotion-driven warmists love to find one glacier or one ice mass and point to it as a sign of imminent disaster. For example this emailer identifying herself as Pamela Lewis, who claims a scientific background:

Dear Sir:

I have a degree in astrophysics.  I suggest that you spend money and go to Greenland, the North Pole and Antarctica and see the climate change for yourself.  Instead you degrade scientists and don't care about the future of this country.  I feel sorry for you and your lack of knowledge.  Instead you rather destroy your children's future and this planet's future.  If you believe in God, shame on you for not taking care of this planet.  You would rather see it destroyed.  I believe in God and believe in saving the planet as the Lord said we are keepers of this planet.  If you don't then you must believe in greed, hatred and hostile racism towards President Elect Obama.  Grow up and do scientific studies yourself.
