Most presidents have had a favorite expansive getaway -- an escape from the pressures of the presidency. Nixon had Yorba Linda. Carter had Plains. Reagan had Rancho del Cielo near Santa Barbara. Bush I had Kennebunkport. Clinton had... whoever lent him their home. And George W. Bush has the Crawford ranch.
This question crossed my mind this morning: What will be Barack Obama's presidential retreat? I know he lives in Chicago, but this is hardly an "escape" from the madness.
I'm only guessing here, but he has one supporter with multiple luxury residences, where the bathroom towels are probably already embroidered with an "O" - just like the magazine cover.
