Red Star over Obama's America (Updated: Hoax?)

Thomas Lifson
I thought this was a spoof until I went to the website and checked for myself. But the URL clearly reads http://www.democratnationalcommittee.com/candidates/barack_obama.htm, and there is other similar merchandise.

Update: Maybe I was correct. Associate editor Rick Moran writes:

I think this is looking more and more like a hoax site.
There's no link to it on the DNC website so that's a little suspicious. In fact, the DNC links to no store at all.
There's nothing like the red star among official Obama merchandise:
http://store.barackobama.com/

there is a new logo for Obama, one redolent with historical precedent and meaning. Here is the yard sign version for sale on a DNC site:

Obama sign

For those who were mis-educated by leftists, here is a brief essay on the meaning of the red star. And here are some of the folks who use the red star:

North Korea

North Korean shield

The murderous Red Army faction of Germany, responsible for 34 assasinations

Red Army faction

Hugo Chavez's political party

PSUV logo

Edgar Snow, the historian of the rise of communism in China, clearly understood what a red star means.

Does America?
