August 06, 2008 Cracks beginning to show in Obama's exteriorIf you don't think Obama feels the pressure, check out his interview with the Las Vegas Sun's Jon Ralston: "I thought I was talking to you instead of debating John McCain, but I am happy to let you serve as his proxy. The fact of the matter is that I supported that energy bill saying at the time that those tax breaks were wrong but also recognizing that this was the largest investment in alternative energy in history," Obama said. Obama getting testy with a reporter whose only crime was mentioning that the candidate appeared to flip flop on drilling could mean that the pressure of the campaign is getting to him. There was no call to accuse the reporter of bias. The question is legitimate and the fact that the candidate's answer was vague and contradictory shows that Obama has a real problem with keeping his lies straight. For fans of the Truth-O-Meter, meet Politifact's Flip-O-Meter, where Obama earns a "full flop" for shifting on whether to tap the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. By forcing Obama's hand on drilling, McCain may be giving him troubles on the left. "If he does really get behind this new compromise in Congress, I think that would be a huge mistake," Mark Ferrulo, executive director of Progress Florida, tells McClatchy's Lesley Clark and Beth Reinhard. Margie Alt of Environment America said in a statement: "We are disappointed to see that Sen. Obama has expressed openness to compromise on offshore drilling and the health of our beaches." |

McCain needs to push day and night on the energy issue, as it will cause no small amount of pain for Obama. But McCain needs to get a bit beyond the "tire gauge" prop and respectfully nail Obama on his meandering "refinements" of position. Not that either candidate can't shift policy based on "conditions on the ground", but Obama's wind-socking on just about everything needs to be highlighted for the next three months.

I realize we're all holding our breath and deathly afraid to say it (because we might "jinx" it), but I think someone should: Obama is toast and it's only going to get worse from here on out.
Futhermore, with any luck, the collateral damage he inflicts during his spectacular fall from grave will also destroy any chance of the Dems increasing majorities in the House/Senate.

I would like to suggest that if there is to be a "Bradley Effect" in the Presidential election, it will be much more complex than simply because of Senator Obama's race. I hope you will consider this article: The Obama Bradley Effect Complexity found at:

Don't write him off too quickly. Remember he took a big hit and was written off by some when he promised to bomb Pakistan if they didn't take sufficiently aggressive action to capture bin Laden, then he got past it as the news cycle moved on. As far as how long his coattails are, we need to see how the congressional candidates position themselves to really know what will happen there.

Until recently I was a bit disturbed by the blatant media bias toward Obama. I am convinced more and more every day it's a good thing. The more he opens his mouth, the more votes for McCain, with little or no effort on the part of his campaign.
I would love to see Barak on Hannity or a prime-time special on MSNBC, Limbaugh-vs-Obama--Free For All Friday. Hell, I'd pay a full gas tank in my Dodge Ram Hemi to see that one.

Obama is exhibiting his transparaphobia--the emperor's fear of new clothes.

I hope you're right ECM.
If we think about it, the resume is empty, the "change" mantra has no basis as the state record shows zero vote for reform, daily flip flops, Wright, Rezko, etc.
If only we can jolt the msm to really ask the questions then we can see craters not cracks by 09/2008.

Don't cook the turkey the week before Thanksgiving. The guests will only remember it was cold.
Thaw it out in August and September and cook the bugger well done and serve him up on November 4. The guests will remember the hot meal of Patriotism, Conservatism with "cram-barry oblahblah" dressing shoved to the side.
Just keep sticking a fork in him to see if he's thawed, then later use the knife to see if he is done.
(cooking analogies are not my strong suit, but having fun is!)

I almost resent the Democrat party for nominating a person who doesn't have the knowledge or experience to win. The election will still be close, but Obama's loss is only going to further divide our country. I can only hope that people will realize that the outcome of the election was based on the issues and not Obama's' race.

Simply astounding. The "audacity" of this fellow mongrel to assume the foregone conclusion of victory in November...
He's already acting like a bristling elitist who, as POTUS, would be above all of this reproach and media inquisition.

What do you mean, "the 'change' mantra has no basis"? His new position on drilling is a CHANGE! from his old one. And if you give him a couple of days, maybe he'll CHANGE! it again.
He really is the candidate of CHANGE!

This is the winner for Republicans in November; the dems tout "energy independence" but as usual have no plan to get there. They complain about 7-10 years to make drilling work and pat themselves on the back for C.A.F.E. standards that will be enacted in 10-20 years? If McCain doesn't use this as a bludgeon, Nancy Pelosi's arrogance will hand them the election anyway.
Voters (well, most voters) have common sense and I have the utmost confidence in them.

It's about time America wakes up.I seen the danger in Barako right from the start. We don't want a Marxist president being led by the Marxist Left.

Folks: does anyone here have Youtube skills (I wish I did)? I think there's a neat potential video and sorry if it's been done and I didn't see it: "Barack Obama says he's the candidate of change. He's right." Show him saying or writing one thing, then the opposite a few months or weeks later. There's way much evidence for this everywhere online. Voice-over: "What DOES Obama believe in?"
This year's "flip-flop." Hung by his own words. And true! I love it.

Isn't this the guy who's personally going to go toe to toe with all our enemies and by dint of his charm and eloquence convince them to mend their evil ways? Hopefully none of them will have the temerity to say anything that actually contradicts him, or we'll have the seeds of a very ugly international incident.

Be careful what you wish for. If BHO drops too far down in the voters' esteem before the Democrat convention, Hillary will be his running mate. That would certainly bring McCain down significantly in the polls.
It's all in the timing...

Heck, The One's handlers need to keep a tire gauge handy so they can spot-check His PSI as His ego swells.

Here's my suggestion for a McCain ad (though it should wait until after the Democrat convention):
John McCain (Voice Over) "Senator Obama's supporters would like us to concentrate on debating policy issues. There's only two problems with that:
1) Senator Obama dosn't want to debate us, and
2) Which policy are we supposed to debate? The policy he advocates today? The one he advocated yesterday? Or the one he'll advocate tommorow?"
(Follows montage footage of Obama's flip-flops on FISA immunity, Drilling, Strategic Reserve, et al.)
McCain (Voice Over): "We'll debate Senator Obama anytime, any place. Just let us know which of his positions he'd like to debate!. I'm John McCain and I support this message."

We should not be too hard on Obonga for his testiness. Mr. Ralston may have been the first reporter to ask a question of him that month while not on his knees. Some of the women scribes have appeared in more intimate positions than that; Mr. Ralston must have appeared impolitic indeed.

I know what you are trying to do here, and I resent it greatly! If anyone is good with the press, it is the agent of change, I mean, it is me. You people are beginning to sound like klansmen out for a lynching. Apparently you are not aware of what I can do after I am inaugurated. You may have heard of the 900 FBI files? I can do things that will make everyone forget about those 900 files. I can do things that will make you wish you were . . . uh, wait a minute. I need some sleep. Leave your names and addresses with the large gentleman with a bow tie by the door. Thanks, good night.

Since Jeremiah, I have never thought that BHO could be elected. The drilling issue should be used to bring the Dem congress down. Someone ( the non-existent RNC perhaps?) needs to focus on the dictatorship of Nazi Pelosi and the perverse notion that this San Fran leftist is granting other Democrats elected by other constituencies "permission" to vote in the best interests of their people. Drive it home that the congressional Democrat leftists in power are running the show no matter who the moderate democrats elect. This is a quintessential example of why Washington is broken.

What do Mr Obama and a scarecrow in a field have in common? Both are men of straw.

K Marr, that was priceless. Somebody get a hold of "the Maverick's" campaign manager and get this to him!

I resent Psychobama accusing the reporter of being a proxy for Juan McCain because he is my proxy and possibly a proxy for a million other people that would like to ask him those questions but can't get access.

In addition to the Obama Energy Plan tire gage, the RNC should hand out Obama Changing We Can Believe In windsocks. (red, of course)

I thought Obama was smart enough to toss his left base aside to gather enough votes to win (where else would they go?). Now I'm not so sure he's as smart as he says he is.

Okay, where is the bus to Obamatown? I mean C'MON america, Obama is a MASTER BS artist!!
His ideas are run of the mill, and unoriginal..God forbid if you ask him a hard question, ever notice he gets testy and offended??? It that isn't Hubris, tell me what is???

Obama has the depth of a bird bath. It shouldn't take a lot more bailing to get to the bottom. How can anyone vote for a person who has been endorsed by Hamas and Hezbollah?

If a man's word is to mean anything, Obama has yet to honor his word to Bill Orielly, who has always seemed pretty fair to his guests to me. Perhaps it's true that, without a teleprompter to answer some unscripted questions from some of us who tune in to the "No Spin Zone," may be asking too much.
Obama is proving, at least to this citizen, that he would fold under the pressure from those who want to wipe us off the face of the map.
If Barack cannot face a reporter without making unwarranted charges of him being a McCain proxy, and seeking answers on behalf of the viewers, then he is openly displaying that he is not ready to take on the responsibilities of Commander-in-Chief.
