Obama's Global Tax Bill Coming Soon

Lee Cary
The Global Poverty Act of 2007 (S.2433) is coming up for a Senate vote sometime after the July 4 recess, according the office of Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison. Once Harry Reid and the Democrat leadership put it on the calendar, we could have as little as a week to prepare for the vote.

The bill is sponsored in the Senate by Barack Obama.  Read about it here.

If passed, it will cost taxpayers $845,000,000,000 over the next 13 years, in addition to our current foreign aid expenditures.

And the best part is that it will be administered in conjunction with...brace yourselves...the United Nations. The same one of "Food-for-Oil" fame.

It passed (H.R. 1302) earlier by a unanimous voice vote in the House.

It's about global income redistribution. Their distribution - our income.

Heard much debate about it?   Ah, it's only 8.5 tenths of a trillion.

This law must not be passed. By even the most generous analysis, any Senator voting for this is directly attacking the sovereignty of his country and committing an act of definitive treason.

It's scary to think about it in such terms, but the American Revolution was over a less significant variation of the same thing. We EXIST as a nation because our forefathers did not wish to surrender our tax dollars to officials over whom we have no electoral recourse. So this is by definition an existential issue for the USA. We literally cannot BE the United States of America with something like his in our code of law.

The Marxists are moving too early ... Always do.

What a gift for McCain--if he uses it.

Scare tactics almost always work; sometime for the right reasons. This is one of those times. McCain and his "little train that could" of a campaign team should leverage this with the folks who have the most to fear...and to lose; the boomers. "Busted Boomers" ain't a Willie Nelson song telling about a bunch of "okies" pot heads that's been done wrong...again.

Look at all the many years and billions of dollars this nation has spent trying to eliminate poverty in this country alone. We have failed dismally. And now Obama wants to eliminate poverty in the world? And people are actually going to vote for this fruitcake? If we had given every man, woman and child below the poverty level a one-time payment of $1 million dollars, it would have saved the taxpayers billions, maybe even trillions. But guess what? Probably in less than 10 years, most of those recipients would be poor again because they've never had money, don't know how to manage it, and would just blow it. There are people in this country who will always be poor because that's the way they like it... they have no pride, ambition, etc. to go out and work and create something. And to have the UN of all people manage this program... OMG! I sure as hell we can out vote the STUPID people who are going to vote for this candidate.

God bless America; God protect America

Willi

Maybe we could get the French and Russians to chip in with the money they skimmed off the last "Food-For-Oil" program. I'm sure they are committed to eliminating poverty. (sarcasm intended)

I agree - the law will create a new Revolution in the USA. I, for one, am ready to help.
You are dreaming if you think McCain will use this. McCain is a PUSSY - scared to death of Obama. He will simply cower in a corner and cry about it.

I believe that the American Revolution was fought over TAXATION Without representation and it was 4%.....a whole lot less than we pay today...although for the most part, still without representation (includes all the rules, regulations, and "Hidden" taxes!! Wake up!

I am so very glad to see this issue getting some attention. I first read about it on Obama's website and knew then and there that he is here to redistribute our wealth to the rest of the world, to people who will promptly squander it and then demand more and more...until we have nothing left. Then we will be redeemed. We will also be ruined, but that is ok. In fact, might it be the goal?

Best regards,

So passed the house on unanimous voice vote...
So the republicans in the house are where? In the culture war you either make the enemy pay for the ground they take or you are collaberator...One way to slow the totalitarions down is to block the consent calender. So much for Ron Paul eh...

If this or anything remotely like this passes, I'm thinking 'pitchforks and torches'.

I believe the Boston Tea party resulted from .0025%(1/4 of a penny)of taxation levied on the colonies by the British Monarchy. The fact that this despicable socialist anti poverty bill passed the US House of Representatives with a unanimous voice vote is outrageous. There should have been zero representatives that voted for this pathetic pile of garbage; voice vote or otherwise.Who the hell are these people to give one penny away of the taxpayers money? Our "leaders" sold out the citizens of this country long ago.Every one of the 535 members of the US congress should be thrown out of office on their asses. Most are traitors, and at a minimum completely disengaged and unconcerned with the American people. These people are totally beholden to special interests, PACs and re-election campaign donors. The Republican and Democrat parties both have a strangle hold on the political process in this country, which unfortunately has come to a grinding halt. Their feigned partisan politics and bickering is nothing but a ruse. The RNC and DNC have gained a monopoly on the political process and the functioning(disfunction) of America. Both parties should be broken up based on anti trust laws. Additionally all of the corrupt leadership and their malevolent associates(lobbyists, et al.)from both parties should be indicted based on RICO statutes. It's time for the American people to take back their country that has been stolen from them. These representatives and senators work for the American citizens; they are not our rulers.Term limits NOW!!!

IS this coming from the same side who claims the war on terror is spending us to the poor house?

B. Hussein Obama will have this country in dire financial straits in no time should he become president. He appears determined to reproduce the economic malaise of the presidency of Jimmy Carter, perhaps not in exactly the same way, but the results will be largely the same. Spending more and increasing the marginal tax rates on the groups of people who drive our economy is guaranteed to push us into recession. Especially in the context of our current energy expenses.

How many here remember the days of Carter? A quick refresher for you young 'uns - mortgage money was going for 14+%; car loans were at 18+%; consumer credit was going for 22+%; unemployment rate as high as 8%; economic growth rates as low as 1.5% a year. That and a failed foreign policy that caused the ouster of the Shah Pahlavi in Iran ushering in the age of Islamist terrorism. American Embassy staff held hostage for almost a year and a half. The post Vietnam military working under deeply cut budgets crashed the hostage rescue attempt in the desert. The Camp David accord which paved the way for the current Palestinian situation.

But at least gas was cheap and we had Billy Beer!

Boy, I hope some of this money goes to those poor great apes now afforded rights in Spain.....After all, outside of the circus, where are they going to work?

"The Global Poverty Act of 2007" Give BHO credit - it's accurately named.

As I see it; the "Political Elitists" have worked very hard to turn our country into the "Land of Sheep" first through de-education and now by destroying the economy. They will use every dirty trick in the book to put us in our proper place. At this point, they are gambling that enough of us have completed our transition to the sheep; so now, all they have to do is keep us contained if they are to prevent rebellion, and how better to keep sheep, than in their pens. There are 50+ sheep pens in this country; so by forcing people to stay within their home state's borders, with increasingly higher gas and food prices, they are comfortable in their thinking that they have most of us corralled. And the cream on the cake is they can hand George Bush the legacy of a broken economy to boot, or perhaps that was the intent all along. Our country is being governed by a bunch of treacherous, traitorous people who will stop at nothing to further their political careers and bring Marxist rule to our country. I agree 100 percent with Mojo Wilkins and others here who call congressional action on this bill an act of treason.

If you would like to destroy s2433 The Global Poverty Act just go to grasstops usa and send your blast faxes

Interesting, this bill is similar to Obama's role in Woods, Annenberg, and Joyce Foundations where he controlled a big pot of dough and delved it out for favors/power in Chicago. Any detail in that bill on who might be the recipients of all this money? Let's be clear it is not the children. This is a pig with lipstick.

"So passed the house on unanimous voice vote...
So the republicans in the house are where?--"
Odds are that Pelosi called a special session of selected members at an off-the-wall time just so there COULD be a unanimous voice vote. I dare say that there is no way to verify who was actually there and how they voted! I could be wrong, but this just smacks of the deal Reid pulled over one of the recesses just so the senate could "TECHNICALLY" be in session & Bush could not make any recess appointments.

"But at least gas was cheap and we had Billy Beer!"

That, of course, was when you could find it. I'll take this $4 AVAILABLE gas over the 1.50 "where do I get it?" gas any day!

At least you don't burn 10% or more just searching for the supply today like back then.

What's 8/10th of a trillion dollars among friends?

I see somthing even more sinister than what you folks have certainly rightly posted, and that is, knowing the Islamic terrorists already collect money through front charities, for jihad, I truly believe that if such a thing passed, much of these funds would pass through the U.N., on to the Islamic charities, and directly into the hands of those waging jihad. These means, funds would go to support those fighting our U.S. enemies in Afghanistan and Iraq, and other places around the world. This would really throw us into a war here in the U.S.; a war against our current government, if they continue in this way, because they are aligning themselves with our declared enemies.

Isn't there a campaign (fax, email, letter, phone) against this rape of the American people by our elected Representatives? Anybody know where Congress moored the tea shipment?

Actually I think that figure of $845 billion is out-of-date. It appears to be based on the 2002 GNP (hence the 13 years to the UN Millennium Declaration target year of 2015), and further understates the amount by simply multiplying the 2002 figure by 13. Currently, the US GNP is about 14 trillion annually, so the proposed tax of 0.7% of the GNP would now be about 100 billion/year versus 845/13=$65 billion/year. To put this figure in perspective, $100 billion/year would be an additional tax of about $1000/year for each the 100 million or so US households. And since leftist egalitarian principals most definitely do not extend to distribution of tax burdens, YOUR share will, of course, in "fairness," be much greater.

Some of the world's poorest countries are ruled by corrupted governments and parasitic dictators.

Guess who is getting our money if this bill gets passed?

For starters, NGOs and the UN are structured in the same fashion as US social programs. By their very nature, they are in the business of maintaining the poor rather than eliminating poverty, and, in fact, have a vested interest in expanding rather than reducing their "client population". At this, at least, they are very efficient.

Pouring money from the top down on poverty problems has been proven repeatedly not to work. IF (a big IF)you wanted to have any positive effect on world poverty, it would have to take the form of investment. Supplying large wads of cash to violently kleptocratic regimes will only strengthen their grip, proven every day.

If money in the form of block loans (IE: the money is to be paid back) to existing and proven mercantile banks such as Grameen (the champions of "micro-credit") could provide and manage loans (IE: the money is paid back with interest)to self-selecting motivated entrepreneurs. They would create viable, non-parasitic economies and potential two-way markets. This would be considered in the same light as a Marshall plan. What would we get for our investment; would it be worth the risk? --open to debate.

By supplying some capital to feed into impoverished economies from the bottom up, you might actually reduce poverty somewhat. To dump 835 billion dollars into this leaking monstrosity might cause it to explode.

Teach them to fish, and maybe front them a loan for a net. DO NOT just give them fish for generations or they will have no other abilities than demanding fish.

The source of the number, AIM, conflates a UN resolution passed 35 years ago to set a desired goal of .07% GNP by industrialized countries to address the goal of reducing global poverty, with a REQUIREMENT that this be budgeted for by each government. A) This never happens. B) This never happens. C) This never will happen.

The bill simply provides additional funding and mechanisms to figure out how to address the goal, it does not appropriate $65Billion per year to actually do anything.

Lets all get our panties in a twist while we shove our foot in our mouth.

In response to Thermite's comments: USG funds for intl development go by an large to support US businesses that do the work. Depending on the country, up to 80% of these funds actually go to US-based organizations, and pay for US workers, commodities and services. Secondly, private donations FAR out strip public giving to NGOs, by a factor of more than 10 to 1. I'd say American's are voting with their pocketbooks, every year, saying they believe the US should do more to help people in dire straits, (whether they are from New Orleans, St. Louis, or Port au Prince).

Gather your guns people. The revolution is coming. Get the guillotine out for all the leftists.

The fact that Private contributions to NGOs is ten times greater than Governmental inputs shows a laudable sense of compassion. The fact that this humainly motivated charity is managed so badly with such paltry effect is truly unfortunate for all concerned .I personally believe that investment in poverty reduction is a sound investment, and I further believe that an objective appraisal of the maintainence system now in place does not reduce poverty. The model provided by The Grameen bank and similar micro investment enterprises has been exhaustively studied and proven to have a greater multiplier effect in every economy where it is practiced than straight handouts . You can arrest the downward spiral into poverty or worse by giving people thier necessities, but I have yet to see an instance where you lift people out of poverty by acclimating them to the condition of permanent professional beggars.

NO MORE TAX MONEY OUTSIDE THE USA. WE CANNOT CONTINUE THIS INSANITY ANY LONGER!!

The fact that the bill passed unanimously in the House should tell us something - it ain't about Obama, it's about us and our elected leaders. We're only getting what we chose.

Obama can KEEP HIS STINKING HANDS OFF MY SALARY! He wants to TAKE from Americans and LAVISH our money upon the F-N WORLD. Don't vote for this MARXIST Obama. Surely the OBAMAFOOLS could see this is a blatent REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH if they would just look. It's as plain as the "nose on your face". And to think that the Obamafools think that "they" are the ones that will be getting the "free" ride.........boy are they mistaken......it won't be them that will be getting the free ride.....it will be the ENTIRE WORLD that he intends to SUPPORT on Y-O-U-R TAX MONEY. Is Obama and our Congress all on drugs..........the American people need to rise up and DO SOMETHING instead of waiting for their HANDOUTS. because their HANDOUTS will be going to feed the ENTIRE WORLD..........what IDIOTS there are among us. God help us all.

0.7% of gross national product?
Not enough, how about 3-5%

we need to take care of our own. We have so much poverty in the U.S.

Let's rise up like we did over 200 years ago...and let's do it before they are finally successful in stripping us of our right to bear arms. They've gotten so close, and now we understand why they tried...

The text of (H.R.1302) has not yet been received from GPO

S.2433 IS A VETERANS Bill supporting U.S. Veterans.

I can't find anything in the congress library on said bill from Barack Hussein Obama.
I think this is someone ones way to get money out of American Citizens to sponsor terrorists or simply to get rich off of fools that have no internet service to look up these said bills in the library of Congress.

GOD HELP US ALL if Barack Hussein Obama becomes the next U.S. president. He is the Antichrist. He came from no where and now wants to be the new U.S. President. He is Muslim. He supports the Jihad and terrorism. American Citizens are the Infidels to him. It says so in the Karan that he calls his Bible of Religion. He is for terrorists and YOU will SUPPORT them with YOUR TAX $$$$. YOU will financially support those who bombed the NY Twin Towers, who hold our citizens hostages on airplanes, etc...

We left England because of Taxation without representation and yet here we are again with taxation without representation!
