D Day remembered

Today is the 64th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of France, and is the day following the anniversary of Ronald Reagan's death. What better way to commemorate both events than to read Reagan's great speech on the 40th Anniversary about the "Boys of Point du-Hoc", or watch it via a YouTube link.

In the face of the current crop of Presidential candidates, we would do well to pause and remember two aphorisms from President Reagan:

Above all, we must realize that no arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. It is a weapon our adversaries in today's world do not have.

And:

Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.

Correction, 64 years. As to Reagan, he was one of the last that realize what Freedom really meant. Todays young people take for granted everything that their grandparents sacrificed for and then complain we need Obama to save them. From what I ask, yourselves?

Finally an acknowledgment of the importance to remember June 6th 1944. America's greatest generation, referred to by many is passing on. Many of us would not have been born or have different lives if not for their service and sacrifice. December 7th the cause, June 6th the solution. Freedom is not free. Evil cannot be ignored and must be confronted. June 6th must always be remembered.
