TIME's Druid cover

Jack Kemp
Time Magazine's Druid cover, mocking the Marines raising the flag on Iwo Jima Time's druid cover
is a pagan disgrace, an attempt to coopt a classicly American symbol, replacing The Flag with a tree and US Marines with some tree huggers. As this
article describes, many Marines who fought there in WWII are outraged.

The left may feel that shopping with a cloth bag or sitting in a tree in Berkeley is heroic, but the time has come to call these people what they are: cowards who pretend they are facing the challenges of today by concentrating on their navels and one small unproven issue. Make no mistake, this is a leftist ploy to supplant (no pun intended) classic American patriotic themes with a neopagan idolatry. This is "down with America" and its' institutions by other - public relations style - means.

(Jack Kemp is not the politician of the same name.)
