November 12, 2007 Sunni Allies Ambush Al-Qaeda
Pleading with the American military to let them attack the enemy without US assistance, Sunni tribesmen - former enemies now allies - enthusiastically engaged al-Qaeda in an hours long, stand up fight and came out on top:
Former Sunni insurgents asked the United States to stay away, and then ambushed members of Al Qaeda in Iraq, killing 18 in a battle that raged for hours north of Baghdad, an ex-insurgent leader and Iraqi police said yesterday. And isolated incident? Not hardly: Meanwhile, farther east, in Diyala Province, members of another former insurgent group, the 1920s Revolution Brigades, launched a military-style operation yesterday against Al Qaeda in Iraq, the Iraqi Army said.Yeah? But the surge isn't working. So to sum up, two of the largest insurgent groups who were killing Americans a year ago are now our allies and engaging al-Qaeda in stand up fights and coming out on top. They are cooperating with the Iraqi government and the Americans in taking back their country from al-Qaeda thugs. The Democrats better get busy with their surrender agenda. Pretty soon, it may be too late. |
