When did the Geneva Conventions protect US soldiers?

This is a great post, and of course Ed Morrisey is absolutely correect in that no one but us abides by the Geneva Convention.  The Germans were pikers compared to our Asian enemies throughout history. Clearly, the fanatical application of the warrior code and other Eastern philosophies play a part in this.  Does anyone want to hazard a guess as to what the numbers would be with the Islamist whack jobs?

Here are the captivity death rates for US servicemen:

— WW II, European Theater of Operations — 1 %

— WW II, Pacific Theater of Operations — 40%

— Korean War — 38% (Bet most people never even gave our POWs in this conflict a second thought)

— Vietnam — 15% (Fifteen times the death rate of US POWs in the German Stalags!)
