September 1, 2006 Speed pornography?A friend who shall remain nameless sent me this link to a YouTube video showing "how we drive in Detroit." He writes,
I confess that I enjoyed it. While I envied the breathtaking speed, and was taken aback by the risk to the drivers, and especially the motoring public, what really excited me was the lack of traffic during daylight hours. Such a stunt would simply be impossible on the freeways of the Bay Area or LA. Oh, for the wide open spaces of Detroit! I guess that no population growth and a lousy economy has an upside. By the standards I articulated elsewhere today, I guess it is pornographic. While I am not inspired to imitate, I am stirred.
