The Stakes in the Patriot Act filibuster

The Senate Democrats crossed a line when they filibustered renewal of the USA Patriot Act. Their unseriousness on national security will continue to brand them as a party not to be trusted with power in times of national peril. The point is being driven home by a senior FBI official outlining the consequences of a lapse in the authority granted under the act, in an interview with Bill Gertz of the Washington Times.
