Richard Rushfield conducted an interesting experiment: he wore a Bush—Cheney T—shirt in several "blue state" neighborhoods, and a Kerry—Edwards T—shirt in several "red state" neighborhoods.

I was not in the least surprised at the results. He encountered hostility and epithets in only one set of neighborhoods. Guess which?
