Many in the media and the Democratic Party spotlight black suffering only as a way to score political points against George Bush and the Republican Party. The media, in particular, routinely
ignores black victims of crime and focuses attention only on white victims. The
Washington Post goes through some hand—wringing on the subject and concludes (surprise!) that more newsroom diveristy (in the sense of more blacks, not in the sense of ideological diversity, presumably) is the answer.
