During his speech On August 18, 1988 after being selected as the Republican nominee for President George Bush Sr. said “read my lips, no new taxes.” We all know what ensued after he became President. It was one of the classic broken campaign promises in history. While this remains etched in the memories of many Americans as a prime example of a President not honoring a clear promise that ended up having an adverse impact on the average American’s taxpayer, it does not begin to approach what President Obama has done with respect to Iran.
