Jimmy Carter and his National Security Advisor, Zbig Brzezinski, are personally responsible for the Islamic radicalization of the Middle East -- by pulling the Persian rug out from our loyal ally, the Shah of Iran, and letting mass-murdering thug Ayatollah Khomeini take over a country of 70 million people. Khomeini's Iran was the first big Islamofascist coup d'état, which made the Turks feel nostalgic for the good old days when the Ottomans creatively murdered everybody in sight, including women, slaves, Christians in Bulgaria, Jews on general principle, and Shiite Muslims for heresy. It was the Ottomans who settled their succession struggles by ritually strangling the male relatives of any new Sultan. The ritual bowstring was the only answer to endless palace rebellions and civil wars if the brothers and cousins were allowed to live. Today, after seventy years of modernization, Turkey is once again run by a throwback branch of radical Islam. They've already carried out mass purges of the secular military and police, and they sponsored last year's agitprop....
