May 22, 2008 Obama describes Michelle's role in his judgmentBy Allan J. FavishDespite the protests of her husband, Michelle Obama deserves intense scrutiny. She may be family, but she is also at the top of her husband's list of advisors; perhaps no less important than Robert Kennedy was to his brother Jack. She would be a key figure in a hypothetical Barack Obama presidency, her judgment relied upon when it's time to make decisions. We have the candidate's word on it. Didn't you read about it? Perhaps not. Unless you read Trumpet magazine, founded by Rev. Jeremiah Wright, you almost certainly didn't know about the candidate's view of his wife's role when he has to make decisions. Since his claim to superior judgment is a fundamental premise of his campaign, you might be interested in what he has to say about her judgment. But that particular issue of Trumpet seems to be hard to get. It sounds like the issue denied to Stanley Kurtz. His article in the May 19, 2008 edition of The Weekly Standard entitled "Jeremiah Wright's 'Trumpet'" examines "the 2006 run of Trumpet, from the first nationally distributed issue in March to the November/December double issue." Kurtz refers to an issue or issues that he could not obtain. Kurtz states,
![]() Obama is on the cover of the March 2007 issue, which also includes an article titled "Barack Obama: History in the Making" by Temple Hemphill. The article extensively quotes Obama and contains some nice photography. But one short segment quoting the senator has assumed particular importance in light of his statement May 19, 2008 to ABC's "Good Morning America" that people "should lay off my wife." He added to GMA:
Here is how he characterized his wife's role in his judgment, scanned from the magazine: ![]() Not only is Obama endorsing Michelle's "sound judgment", he is stating that he relies upon her above all others for "sound judgment". If that's the case, then his claim to superior judgment, a cornerstone of his campaign, is necessarily dependent upon the quality of Michelle's judgment. If he endorses the judgment of somebody who has poor judgment, that means that Obama has poor judgment. So we have to examine Michelle's judgment through her public speeches, as well as other information which helps us evaluate her judgment. Moreover, it would be unfair to the electorate to keep the views of a presidential candidate's top advisors hidden or immune from public debate. A presidential candidate's top advisors have significant influence over the candidate's policy choices. If she is the person who has the most influence on Obama's judgment, the public needs to know all about her views. The judgment of a president shapes the future of the nation. In time of war, the survival of the nation may depend on the president's judgment. We know now that Obama relies heavily on her judgment when he makes decisions. In addition, of course, Michelle Obama has been campaigning for her husband, and expressing her views at public events. It is not reasonable for anyone giving a speech to be immune from criticism simply because of a family relationship. Barack Obama's pose as a defender of his wife clashes with the public's right to know about his top advisor, a person who shapes his judgments and whose judgment he endorses. Allan J. Michelle was right. Politics can be nasty. If Bambi dosen't like people critizing his wife, he should tell HER to shut up and go bake some cookies.
Obviously it is she that tells him what to do, so she is fair game.
And what a great target she has made of herself with all her off the wall ideas.
We can all sit back and watch the show.

Mr & Mrs Obama and Mr & Mrs Clinton are bad news for our Country

What's with the "iconic" cover shot of the candidate deep in thought. There is something creepy about Obama's choice of high-contrast shirts and suits; looks a lot like Minister Farrakhan and the other black muslims. Also, Michelle seems to affect that stark look as well.

That's a JFK pose for the cover shot, to remind Dems like me of the "good ole days," the days of youth and glory. Barack Obama is a product, skillfully marketed and packaged by the likes of David Axelrod, hawked by senior party members and then rammed down the throats of the party faithful. The problem is the veneer has developed cracks. Every time an unattractive tidbit comes to the surface [like Michelle Obama's comments or Rev. Wright, etc., etc.], Obama's handlers try to patch and reglaze, cry foul and use shame to cover up the touchups.
At some point in time the fraud will be revealed. I just hope it's sooner rather than later.

Michelle Obama's comments about the U.S., and life in general, are suspiciously similar to those of the now closeted Pastor Wright. When we try to imagine BHO's real worldview there are two possibilities.
1) He secretly agrees with both and is hiding such to get elected - Not good.
2) He doesn't really agree but is a moral coward and appeaser - Not good.
I don't see any other way to slice it...

"The President is merely the most important among a large number of public servants. He should be supported or opposed exactly to the degree which is warranted by his good conduct or bad conduct, his efficiency or inefficiency in rendering loyal, able, and disinterested service to the Nation as a whole. Therefore it is absolutely necessary that there should be full liberty to tell the truth about his acts, and this means that it is exactly necessary to blame him when he does wrong as to praise him when he does right. Any other attitude in an American citizen is both base and servile. To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about any one else."

I believe that Michelle Obama's fashion statement, while probably her own, is supposed to remind American's of the admired Jackie Kennedy. There the similarity ends. I don't remember the gracious former first lady ever making the cutting and down right mean remarks that characterize Michelle Obama's many public statements.

Apparently Larry Johnson at the Huffington Post, among other sources, says HRC and the GOP possess video of MHO railing against "Whitey" on the floor of Trinity UCC.
Libs are going crazy at this post, saying that "if it's true why hasn't it surfaced?"
Apparently things can surface in a campaign years or even decades later: fake Swiftboat Purple Hearts, Winter Soldier convention speeches, Jeremiah Wright sermons, friendships with the Weathermen, youth mentorship under black power advocates such as Franklin Marshall Davis, camapaign endorsement commercials for Marxist Moslem butchers in Kenya (Odinga '06), etc., etc........

Very interesting post. It made me wonder if the right reverend Wright used any church equipment/supplies/personnel to publish this jewel of a magazine????

Should Obama be elected, there will be no need for a VP,... or a Cabinet for that matter, or, on continued thinking, a State Dept or DHS...the TWO of them can do it all...think of the economy of effort that may be achieved, the streamlining of govt. the two of them may achieve!! The current political 'low' in our countries history of Presidential elections has been achieved with THIS, the Dems offering, and the poor Republican performance as well, with McCain hardly appealing to conservative voters and the party being to the left of the Dem party of JFKs day.

If Michelle can't stand the heat then maybe she should avoid the lights of all those cameras and say "no comment" when people ask her questions, and maybe even stay off the campaign trail altogether. She's obviously not built to handle the nastiness (in the past it was called rough). American politics has been a lot rougher in the past. If Barack thinks the campaign is rough, he's in for four years of his wife being First Lady and under constant scrutiny. He won't be able to tell anyone to "lay off". Michelle isn't a child, and neither is he. They want it both ways and it just won't happen.

I remember a time, long before Jeremiah Wright ever became an issue, when Obama disclosed (bragged, really) that he never made a political appointment without first consulting with the good Reverend. You can judge the soundness of this man's judgement by examining those on whose judgement he depends. Not a particularly pretty picture that.

Hi everyone,
I find OBAMA unaceptable.
Obama says he is not running for himself, he is doing this for the good of the country. If that is true, Obama should step down and out of the race. Of course, Obama is running for himself, he will KEEP telling more lies to get elected. I am so sick of his stuttering, and oh and ah, what bad English, the last time I looked.
There has to be a way to get rid of OBAMA. I keep waiting for all the bombs to drop on him and they cannot be quick enough.

If the GOP actually does possess the "throw mama from the train" video, the bomb should be dropped NOW.
I was personally appalled the first time I heard Michelle Obama's "black man" speech and further appalled at her very UNpatriotic speech about not being proud to be an American speech.
ALL candidates spouses are under the political microscope, and have been since Rachel Jackson. What on earth makes Obama think that we should muffle free speech in order to insulate his spouse?
If you can't take the heat-- and it will get even hotter in the months to come, then get out of the kitchen. Politics is not for the weak hearted, Obama. Your wife will not be shielded from her mouth.

Obama is nothing more that a pupet for a vicious group of anti-Americans who hate our country, it's form of govenment & it's God! What arrogance obama has! He has absolutely no experience and has never experienced a hard day of work. His two years as a senator have been spent campaigning for president. Shame on the DNP for letting the democratic party be hijacked and selling out the American way of life. God help us!

Michelle did her thesis at university on why black people can't make it (white people's prejudice)

The fact that Obama is a candidate for the Presidency of the United States of America should, in itself, be an urgent wake up call for our country. This guy is not only unqualified, his political policies will ruin our nation.
Nobody should vote for this guy, whether they are black, white, red or brown.

You are a liar!! I am a subscriber of Trumpet magazine.
You will answer to GOD! It is GOD who chooses all high office leader.
When you lie on another, You are only revealing just yourself.
You are not a mind reader, therefore this thought came from your mind first.
